Into the Light, made for the Human Emotions Project run by Alison Williams on artreview.com
Holly leaves on a scanner filmed as the light travels under and along.
Into the Light came about because I am fascinated by my A3 Scanner. I simply love the sharpness of the light its relentless sweep and non-critical eye, taking in every nook and cranny, every fibre and indent.
It has ruthlessness about it. Nothing is hidden, nothing can escape the white glare.
Placing any object on the glass always shows up a surprise the image is taken from BELOW.
Its glaring eye sees what you cannot not until the scan is complete and finally in Photoshop can I, the Artist, claim any control. I am in awe of its power!
Indeed with every scan I hold my breath with Reverence.
