"Crybaby" is an audio-video series that examines the culture of crying: the individual/private relationship to crying, the social/public dynamics of crying, and crying as a device in modern media, specifically film. Stripping out all narrative cues and using a variety of original and donated music scores, the video series parallels crying and filmmaking as both singularly genuine acts as well as subversively manipulative devices. Scores by Moby, Chi2 Strings, John Turner, Axel Belohoubek, duke b.

ABOUT THE COMPOSERS
Hailing from the nether regions of Brixton and Barnet are Chinese Brit-born violinists C H I 2 - Liz Chi Yen & Sarah Chi Shang Liew - recently described as "double violin assault specialists (Singapore method)". They play acoustic, electric (6 string) and chinese violins (Jinghu and Erhu) over electronica beats. What makes them unique is that all their performances are completely improvised with a plethora of weird noises and the odd sprinkling of live effects. Their music is harsh and pulsating one minute and lyrical and beautiful the next, interspersed with textural fragments and snippets of musical conversation, as they communicate in their sisterly language. No strangers to the public eye these gals have played with diverse artists such as MOBY (European and American tours, Later Presents Moby etc.), a live unplugged gig with Uriah Heep (released on DVD and CD) and participated in the mayhem of The KLF's performance live on MTV. They've also played and recorded with Boy George, Barry Adamson, Nelly Furtado, Anastacia, Goldfrapp, Sixpence None the Richer appearing on Channel 4, BBC TV, Radio, BBC Music Live, BBC World Service (The Edge), Arte (Europe), NPA (Canal+, France) and on several film and TV soundtracks. Liz explains, "As session musicians we've been really privileged to have worked with a range of diverse and talented artists and musicians."
