I work in a Women's shelter in Brooklyn and we have joined forces with the YMCA in our neighborhood--they will be hosting a show; work, all mediuims created by our artists in residence--the women who reside in the shelter. The city of NY has proposed that all programs, creative arts and recreation in all city funded single-adult and family shelters like the one I coordinate, be cut as a cure to budget woes.
