My latest drawing is coming along nicely. Just need to figure out what to do for the background or if I'm going to leave it as is.

There are drawings that I've done that I like. However, there are a larger amount that I'm vastly displeased with. Others see talent there. But I always feel that something's missing. I fell that the drawing needs to be more. For the longest time I…

It's finally here!

I ordered a book off of amazon that was written by my favorite artist. It's "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil" by J. D. Hillberry. I can't wait to learn the techniques he employs when drawing. His drawings are so realistic. Many of them look like photographs. I've wanted this book for years. I'm so happy to finally have it! And the crazy part is that I got a signed copy! I hadn't planned on that. I bought it on amazon under "used" and it was the cheapest. I would think that a signed copy wou… Continue

I have found myself.

There are drawings that I've done that I like. However, there are a larger amount that I'm vastly displeased with. Others see talent there. But I always feel that something's missing. I fell that the drawing needs to be more. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what that was. I felt that I was somehow a failure, even while doing some of the drawings I have posted on here.

Most people seem to feel that it's a self-esteem issue. I am constantly told I need to believe in my work. Believe in… Continue

My grandmother inspires me

My grandmother was a painter. She preferred to do oils. I remember watching her paint as a little girl. I would draw as she painted. I remember watching Bob Ross with her and being amazed at what could be created.

I've always wanted to paint like she did. But I think somewhere in my mind I believed that it was a skill far out of my reach. Drawing, well that I've done since I was a little girl. Painting though is so new to me. I am almost afraid of it.

Talking with a friend helped push me into… Continue

Contest gives inspiration

There's an art contest that I learned about last night. I was wondering what I should do for it while looking through some pictures I had. I didn't expect to find a picture that would give me an idea of what to do. I just like looking at them. However one picture of my son gave me a great idea for the contest. It's odd having a picture of a child give you inspiration for something whose theme is the end of the world. But hey, things happen like that.

I've been in an experimental kind of mood la… Continue
