All work and no play

I've not been painting lately because I've volunteered to Chair the committee to handle all the local organizing for a scientific conference called Virtual Observatories in Geosciences (www.voig.net). Even though there are 6 committee members, I'm doing 75% of the work. One of the other committee members is an extreme pleasure to work with, she is very sharp and responsive. The conference is now less than 2 weeks away and the pressure's on. Next time I vounteer for something like this, I'll only… Continue

my wife went down to rosarita to see some property her folks bought recently and was stuck in the same traffic. 4 hours to get out of TJ. then the stuff you went thru. yeah, you could have stopped and had a glass of tea, or a beer or wine. next time. been stuck with my painting lately. not happy with what i had planned and now i'm thinking of moving in another direction. angst. it oozes out the pores of my skin.

Berlin was great, could see myself there longer. Vienna not so much. I'll take Paris anyday!! Third time to Vienna, but the longest stay so far. Museums spread out artwork of a few artists, mostly up to mid-20th century, among different buildings and charging 6-10 euros per place, when most cities would put the whole lot in under one admission price of 10-15 euros. A LOT of Schiele and Klimt, and other lesser known Austrian artists, but not much representation from artists post 1950s. Also, decided to stay in the Innerstadt, which is pleasant, found a very decent flat to rent, but consumerism is a bit rampant. Checked out the area behind the Musuem Quarter today and it seems much more down to earth. [all these comments area based on 2 weeks experience, not enough to be an expert in any area - take it all with a grain of salt and go experience it for yourself]
