yeah, i'm totally down with making a contribution. there are only three types of moments when i feel like my feet actually touch the ground. when i golf (though not all the time), when i paint or think about painting or the next direction i should head with painting, and when i'm with my wife (that is all the time). as for the path i tread where i leave a mark called painting, it is with out a doubt the hardest road i've ever tread. i never see anyone and if i did now, i would think it was a mirage. the path is usually rocky, uneven, barely recognizable and the light is poor. when the path is clear, the weather sucks. it is a struggle no one truly appreciates with out being an artist consumed with having an original perspective. i'm glad its not easy but why does it cost so much? i'm not talking money but the weight of observation. the best artists were the best at observation and they all usually noticed something no one else did. then, they answered the next hard question for themselves as artists -what to do with that observation. the one nobody saw, or was too afraid to answer. i think the world is getting closer to being unafraid of the answers and i think its because artists of our time are giving them the strength to do so. art and the creation of art in its various re-mixes is about to change in a way that artists before us never dreamt. i just hope the integrity i've found in golf infects it with the honor and vulnerability artist bring to bear when they create.
