I am an artist, in every sense of the word. I feel that I am compelled by this great need to create and express to the world what is inside of me. I am interested in all forms of art. I consider myself a mixed media artist with a strong interest in sculpture. (I have worked in the mediums of paper, pencil, pen, oil pastel, markers, acrylics, collage, wood, clay, photography, cotton, polyester, beads, safetypins, bottlecaps, paperclips and other found/recycled items).
Right now I am very interested in the concept of recycled items. I am working on a series that focuses on my use of unconventional materials. I like taking things and using them in ways that they were not intended for. Along with this series, I am started another series on Babies. I have a lot of ideas that I need to refine in order to know what direction it will go. I am continuously doing research and letting my dreams guide me.
I have a very thought provoking, ironic, interesting, controversial, thoughtful, kitchy, diverse, psycho-inspired style. I am influenced by a varied group of artist in many mediums and genres. I am mostly inspired by everyday life, people, nature, books, television, and my dreams. Friends, classmates and professors often say words or phrases that sets off a series of thoughts that may lead me to approach a project in a different way to help me along. Unlike most visual artits I do much more journal writing than drawing and sketching (I still do sketches, just not as many as other visual artists). Instead of forcing a project or a piece along, I let it evolve organically. So, I need help from life to do that for me and I often find myself having to give up control, although I am comfortable with organization, structure and control.

I have spent my whole life working for this non-profit...my father founded Pililla Club of America in 1981 in our Oxnard, California backyard and since then we have worked to raise money and give back to the community in which my father was raised.
