East Indian Wash technique preserved by students of Harish Johari

All the paintings below are either by Pieter Weltevrede or Mavis Gewant. They are some of Harish Johari's students continuing his teachings and painting yantras, Hindu and Buddhist deities and using the technique for realistic painting as well. The Sacred Arts foundation attempts to hold workshops to support the Sacred Art teachers and preserve the lineage as well as inspire new uses of this wonderful art form. This is WATERCOLOR. No other form of water color in the world can illicit the depth of oil or that of the Japanese royal painters. Any one can learn how to use this technique. It is described in the back of many Harish Johari books and classes are taught in the US, Germany, Holland and India by these teachers. It takes time to perfect the technique, but any one can learn the concepts.

A Hot time in February this year

February: A merging of Sky and Vedic Astrology Views

We have an event filled month, beginning with Mercury appearing to go direct across our skies on February 1st. We are able to integrate the new information that came in late January and apply it to new systems, communication and efficiencies in our lives for the first week of February. Every body type, Vata, Pitta and Kapha will have very specific influences this month to assist their individual type of purpose on the planet.… Continue

Venus in the Winter Night Sky

Venus, the planet of artisans or Shukra (in Sanskrit) has been high in the Winter night sky and is only going to get brighter toward the end of January 2009. Venus is one of our brightest objects in the sky, only second to the Sun and our Moon, followed by grandiose Jupiter in brightness.
After the new moon and Solar eclipse on Jan 25th (midnight) PST, the moon will begin waxing toward beautiful Venus. So, on January 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th the moon will be growing in size and be either to the… Continue

Indian Water Color Wash technique Immersion with Master Dutch artist Pieter Weltevrede

We just finished an incredible 5 day immersion with master Dutch artist Pieter Weltevrede to learn the rarely taught Water color wash technique. See the photos as just a few examples of his latest works. These are water colors, folks. No other technique in the world can illicit this level of depth, detail and realism in water color. This was taught to Pieter Weltevrede by his now deceased teacher, Harish Johari, who was a renowned author, sculptor, painter and teacher of ayurvedic priniciples an… Continue

Thanks! That was SVA's SoHo gallery, which since moved to Chelsea. I'm not really pursuing galleries, but I will definitely let everyone know if one pursues me :D

I really enjoy the yoga series from Swami Sivananda, with the Sivananda trained teachers, it is a complete set of yoga with pranayama (breathing techniques) and a true balance between exertion and relaxation. We have a great yoga teacher from the Sivananda tradition here in Seattle who is also a personal coach and spiritual teacher, Durga Das. His site is www.silentmotion.com
Vishnu-Devananda is such an inspiration. His story of the PEACE PLANE, becoming a pilot and flying around the world with his passport reading "citizen of Earth" is tremendous. To peace, with no borders.

Om namah Shivaya
Namaskar,
thank you for adding me as friend and for your message.
Yes, on the wall, that is Swami Vishnu-devananda, who is my Master. I have studied in the Sivananda Yoga Centers/Ashrams in 1980-1991.
Thank you for the Sacred Painting of your teacher Pieter WEtevrede.

All the best,
Om shanti
