I am an abstract painter, the transformed form of nature is the subject of my painting.
How did you hear about Brooklyn Art Project?
from my friend Karunamay Sur

The world of matter and energy accessible to the sensory organs, is a world of reality and our body is a part and parcel of this world. This world of reality is replete with visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile and gustatory images. On the other hand, emotion, joy, pain, suffering, the texture of relationship, realization emerging from experience – all these form another reality, the reality of abstraction.
We can never gloss over the world around us. We get ourselves involved in various events, both physically and mentally. Those events may be of the past or the present or of the future which through imagination, planning and feeling inundate our existence. The external activities and phenomena reflect on our mind. Some of those reflections are known to us and some of them are alien to us.

The base of my painting is the reflection of the sensory world. The different abstract feelings that make its impact felt on the conscious as well as the unconscious mind are translated into painting. It starts from a sense of void. The waves of feelings occur at the conscious and unconscious self, simultaneously in course of time. Painting to me, is an assimilation and sublimation, at least an effort of sublimation, from the experience of the sensory world, the men and women around me and my interaction with them, the desires and demands of my physique and psyche, my society, my country, my religion, my ethos, my eco-socio political locus standee, and the repression of my emotions and impulses.
Through painting I make an Endeavour to free myself from the temporal and spatial shackles in spite of remaining confined to the frame of time and geographical frontiers. I hardly feel any compulsion of representing any particular territory or a specific slab of time. I make a constant effort to touch the infinite embedded in the world of finite. This very effort leads me to the eternal, the universal.

My painting starts with an objective emotion. A great passion gradually inspires me to create the chromatic prism on the canvas. Rapid application of colour gives birth to certain accidental texture, an abstract arena of colours that come forth spontaneously. In course of the progress of painting, the attempt to curb the flow of emotions grows gradually. As a result of the tussle between emotion and intelligence emerges an alien world that is far different from the known world around in approach and dimension. Different geometric forms unfold themselves on the canvas slowly but steadily. Among these geometric figures triangular features have been recurrent in my painting. At times flat layer of colour is applied, quite consciously, only to heighten the textural coloured space, which, at the same time, creates a breather in the painting. The geometric figures sometimes overlap each other and sometimes they have sharp edges. Diverse colours are used at several layers of painting which provide profundity to the painting.

The quintessences of natural or human activities are found in my painting but without their forms. Abstraction thus lies embedded in reality in my painting.
