Brooklyn Art Project

Art today is becoming a trade and a business. Schools are created to teach an individual the scientific methods of painting, sculpting, photography...etc.

Galleries are inviting art that holds immediate profit and exposure.

When did Artists become so obsessed with power, to the point that criticism of one's art is simply designed to separate one another?

ARTISTS UNITE. This is what I say.

Before the gifts of art are relegated to dogs, cats and a couple of computer generated artwork.

what do you say?

REINA -76- ARTIST

I agree and also galleries only seem to want to show work of people who have already shown before, or it's the 'who you know' thing going on. I'm beginning to wonder what happened to being shown on the quality of the work and not where you went to college etc.

I guess like everything else business takes over but there must be a balance between pushing boundaries, showing challenging work and all involved making a living. I personally don't want to starve but I also don't want to make a pile of money.
