Go to www.whitehouse.gov and click on issues then disability. On the far right side of the page it mentions Accessability and the Arts. Recently, the White House invited several major institutions such as MOMA and the Smithsonian etc. They met with various disability groups about how the art world could become more accessable. They discussed hiring, exhibitions etc. They mention a follow up discussion on line. Let me know if anyone knows about this. Thanks Karin Teresa

I believe Obama wants to restore the ADA since it has been watered down so institutions can get out of it. It is a civil rights issue and a ethical issue when Businesses and Universities disregard rhis law or try to kick people out.

Hi! I have disabling conditions. I am a D.E.S. daughter with breast cancer. I also have a sister ith schizophrenia. I had a disability law center represent me against a major University and Art department for not following the ADA. It seems the art system just doesn't understand the law or how to follow it. I was totally disgusted with the stigma and attitude. I feel they just wanted to wiggle out of this law and blantantly discriminate. I am a member of www.vsarts.org.
