Copyright Advice

I need some advice on copyrights and infrindgements.....whatever that is. All I know is the poor man's version like mailing a copy of your documents to yourself before you send an art work out. What advice can you give me?

Very good ideas. I feel like these are tricks everyone should know, but it's such an ugly side to art that people don't think about it very often.
